A Pink Collection from Bobbi Brown

Although this would be a little bit more fitting to Valentines Day, Bobbi Brown have a new Uber Pink Collection out on counters now which is verrrry pretty. It's only been recently that I've got back into wearing pink make up. Now I don't mean pink eyeshadow, but a little pink lipstick & nail polish is cute.

The Uber Pink Collection consists of two illuminating face powders, two lip glosses, two lipsticks and two nail polishes. One bright and one more on the nude side of things. Now I'm not on to wear blush, but I tried the Illuminating Bronzer in Pink Peony and it didn't suit me. But I know that it will suit one of my blogging friends (guess who), so it will be passed into good hands.

Now the winners for me are definitely the lip and nail products. The Lip Colour in Pink Kiss is a perfect everyday shade which isn't too pink or too bright. Combine it with the Lip Gloss in Baby Pink and you have yourself a winner. I don't wear lipgloss too often, it's not that practical for me as I talk a lot during the day at my job. But recently I've been trying a few out as they seem to be working their way into people's everyday make up. Don't think that it's gloopy and that your hair will be sticking to it, because it won't. It glides in and leaves a lovely sheen which looks very glam.

The nail polish is definitely a winner in my eyes, Nail Polish in Pink Cloud. When I tried it the first time, I hadn't worn nail polish in nearly two months as I gave my nails a break. So it was the perfect shade to start again with, not too pink or too nude. One coat is enough for a sheer colour, but two is perfect as it gives a lovely opaque shade.

Anyone else think they have the prettiest names? I'm really starting to fall in love with Bobbi Brown!

The First London Fashion Week Instalment

I'm sat writing this post in bed after a very long tiring day at London Fashion Week and it's only the first day. This time around it was my first time backstage at shows, which was very exciting for me as I got to see the make up looks being created.

My day started with an appointment at MAC where one of the girls made me up for the rest of the day. I had my foundation sorted from the morning so I didn't get that touched up except for a bit extra concealer and powder. But the eyes were the main part and something a little out of my comfort zone. She started with the Constructivist Paint Pot and applied that all over the lid, before applying a little of Twinks Shadow. Both two very smokey but beautiful shades, after that my eyes were lined with Coffee Liner, on both my upper lashes and water line. The lids were finished off with Melon Pigment, to add the 'wet' look to the eyes, before applying lots of Studio Fix Mascara. The lips are a mixture of Boldly Bare Liner and Viva Glam II Lipstick, as we decided to keep the lips quite nude.
After the make up, I went along to Fashion Scout, where to spent the rest of my day backstage and watching shows. Over at Fashion Scout in Freemasons Hall, all of the make up is done by The Body Shop and the hair is by Label M/Toni & Guy. I went along with The Body Shop to have a little peek of the make up looks. The first show was Ones To Watch, where there were four designers altogether, but the models all had the same look. As you can see from the photographs, the artists created an amazing ombre dark red lip, using a mixture of shades. The eyes were kept quite simple, with a flush of silver/blue eyeshadow, which comes from the futuristic theme behind the look. The skin was kept very dewy, using a mixture of the BB cream and concealer, with a lot of highlighter which I liked a lot.
Ong-Oaj Pairam was up next and we didn't have too long to snap some pictures, but the make up was incredibly dewy and soft. All of girls had the most perfect winged liner, dewy highlighted skin and red glossy lip.
The day was finished with Pam Hogg, the craziest show I've ever been to. This is the show we weren't able to get backstage at, as no one can actually. We did attempt it though, but it was followed by a lot of shouting and us walking away a little scared. As always, it started late but it turned out to be a tribute to Pussy Riot (if you don't know who this is, google it). It was absolutely incredible and showed the personality of the woman, just as crazy.

The No Foundation Foundation and Concealer

Every time I have typed this title, it was deleting the second 'foundation', but it's correct, Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation* and No Concealer Concealer* likes to repeat words. If you're looking for a medium to full coverage foundation, then this isn't what you want as it's very light coverage, lighter than a tinted moisturiser.

The No Foundation Foundation contains SPF 30, which is going to be perfect for the summer. But in reality, it's a multi-tasking translucent foundation with a high dosage of Vitamin C in there too. If you apply it with your fingers, it's a lot less coverage so I've been using it with a buffing brush and applying one pumps worth. If you're any paler than I am, go for the Fair version, as this is even a tad too dark for me. That's why I'm thinking it will be perfect for the summer, combined with the SPF30 it will match my tanned face. It has all the benefits of a BB or CC cream, as it's a treatment and a cosmetic at the same time. Containing Alpha Lipoic Acid, it emphasises the skin's natural moisture. The finish of the foundation is semi-matte but it will leave you with healthy glowing looking skin.
The No Concealer Concealer is an anti-ageing eye treatment and again, it contains SPF 35. It comes in one shade, which is a bit crap as it's not suitable for most skin tones, but it's fairly neural and I can assume a lot of people can use it. Suitable for both camouflaging imperfections and dark circles, but I would advise to use an eye cream before using under the eyes. I have been using it as an eye primer too, as it really helps smooth out any lines and is a great base. It may be anti-ageing but that's something I'm not too bothered about.

I've really been enjoying these two products, just slapping them on when I'm in a rush on the morning (which is every day).

The NARS Red Lip Combo

I'm on a hunt to find the perfect dark red lip, which isn't too berry when applied to my lips. I never realised how hard this hunt was going to be until about a month in. Pretty much every 'dark red' lipstick leans towards the berry tone, or else it does on me. I have quite a natural pigmented lip, which can make it hard as it turns a lipstick quite berry.

For now, this combo is good enough for me, although it's still not dark enough. I have owned NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella for a little while now and I love it, they're so easy to apply and last all day. But I picked up NARS Lipliner Pencil in Amazon which is a dark red, with brown undertones, to apply under the lip pencil.
I applied a thin layer of Nuxe Reve de Meil to soften the lips a little, before lining the lips with Amazon and filling the whole lips with it too. Rather than just lining the lips, I used this as a base before applying a layer of Cruella on top. The make up artist at the counter told me that these go together like bread & butter, but of course the lipliner will go with almost all red lipsticks. I'm thinking this will stop MAC Russian Red from bleeding on me.

What is your favourite dark red lipstick? You may help with the hunt!
