The Make-Up: Clarins Graphic Expressions Make Up Collection

We can't deny it, Autumn and Winter is coming and you can feel it in the air. That means the hunt for a new winter coat is on and I'm rushing around trying to find my favourite berry lipsticks. This summer I stuck to peachy, coral, pink shades so I'm craving something darker. When Clarins Graphic Expressions make up collection arrived on my door step, it satisfied all those cravings. Clarins always bring out one of the best collections, A/W didn't let me down.

It starts out with Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Forest*, a eyeshadow palette what can be used wet or dry. I'm not one to use eyeshadows wet, but I can bet that the bronze shade would be beautiful when applied wet. On my eyes today, I've used three of the colours, all except the green taupe shade as I'm still figuring out how to wear that. All the shades are very earthy, reflecting the autumn months. The eyeshadows are buttery and very pigmented. I only found that with the lightest shade, it's basically just a lot glitter, I was expecting more of a highlight shade. Never the less, I applied it over the whole lid to finish it and it give it a 'glitterball' effect. Along with the eyes, there is two new Crayon Khol shades in Intense Blue* and Bronze*. I've applied the bronze shade along the upper lash line, ever so slightly just to give it a bit more depth. I've been wearing the eyeliners on their own just to give my lash line a little something more, rather than just mascara.

For the lips, there is two Joli Rouge Lipsticks in Royal Plum* and Spicy Cinnamon*. They're very hydrating and long lasting colour lipsticks, which can be applied quite sheer but are able to be built up to an intense shade. I'm wearing Royal Plum here, applied quite sheer as my skin tone doesn't suit something very dark.

What is your favourite A/W make up collection this year?

The Make-Up: MAC Face & Body Foundation

MAC Face & Body Foundation is a foundation that you will either love or hate it. Most people hate it too as it breaks people out, but unless you don't have that problem, you might like it. I've never had a problem with products breaking me out, whether that's a skincare product with mineral oil (I'm still against it though) or a bad foundation.

So in my last MAC haul, I picked up the smaller bottle of Face & Body in shade C2. The shade matches my skin tone perfectly at the moment and it should do throughout the winter, I'm not giving up Clarins Liquid Bronze up any time soon. It's a water based foundation so when you shake the bottle, you can hear the liquid moving around. It's very lightweight, as you're able to use it anywhere on your body too. I pop a little bit on the back of my hand and work it in with a buffing brush. On the places I don't really need coverage, I'll just put a little bit but on my cheeks, I will go back over and apply some more. One thing I have a problem is with foundations is that when I go back and apply more onto the areas which need more coverage, it normally clings to any dry skin there is. Except with this, I have not found that at the moment. I've found that it's very hydrating and it does feel a little tacky for a few minutes afterwards but once it's settled, I can't feel it on my skin at all.

If you like heavy coverage foundations, then it's not for you. But if you're having a good skin day and like a light coverage, this is for you. You can always build it up to a medium coverage too. I've really enjoyed using this, it's not too matte or dewy, it just looks like skin. In the photo above, I'm only wearing this on my skin, no concealer or anything.

The Make-Up: A YSL Lipstick

My blog started off with my confessing my love for lipsticks, so I'm bringing it back. It started off with high street brands, now I'm aiming a little higher except I do love a L'Oreal lipstick still. I've wanted to own a YSL lipstick for months now, they're so beautiful.

My favourite type of lipsticks is a moisturising lipstick, not matte, which packs a punch of colour. I have a few here and there but my eyes were always set on this one. I'm going through a peachy pink/coral stage at the moment and I think it's here to stay so I picked something to fit into that category. YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 16 Orange Impertinent is the one I went for. It's a perfect pink with a hint of orange, sitting more on the pink side of things. It doesn't need a liner to keep it in place and it glides on perfectly. The colour lasts really well too, it has lasted through many long conversations, however it doesn't last through eating. The packaging is something else too, this is a lipstick I am proud to get out of my handbag and apply.

What's your favourite lipstick?

The Daily Make-up #11

This is the first time in quite a few days I've worn a full face of make up. I think it's good sometimes to take a break and not wear much, your skin needs a break every now and then. I'm happy that my camera has washed me out slightly as I've caught the sun quite a lot this past weekend, well mostly on Monday when I lay out and got sunburnt.

As I've tanned a little recently, I'm a darker shade in my favourite foundation, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum so I'm glad I had it in storage for me. I mixed it with a little Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone to add a radiance finish to it, a new favourite combination. I've gave up putting concealer on underneath my eyes for now as it's so hot, it just sweats off so I popped a little around my nose to keep the redness at bay. Base done, I moved onto eyebrows with the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Blonde, which may be my new favourite eyebrow pencil, but more on that later. For the eyes, I swept a little Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow Paint in Rich Russet over my lids and blended it out so it was very sheer. These are a new addition to the Scandaleyes family and they haven't let me down in the slightest.  I make my lash-line a little darker, I smudged MAC Coffee eye pencil across before applying lots of mascara on the top lashes. MAC Creme Cup and Clarins Instant Lip Perfector in 05 is my go to lip combination for the summer as it just adds a pop of light pink to the look. I finished off with powdering my t-zone with Jurlique Rose Setting Powder*.

What's your favourite go to look for this hot weather?
