Joules in London

You may or may not know the brand Joules - it's a British country clothing brand which was started in 1989 by Tom Joule. I've known about the brand and worn their clothes for years, being a country bumpkin myself, I've always been a fan. Their clothes may be more known out of the city, but with a new store having just opened in Covent Garden, it's time to bring the brand to the city.

Two pieces here which I've styled are simply clothing items I would buy from any usual clothing shop such as Topshop, worn with my usual clothing. With the Joules SS15 range out now, of course my favourite pieces included a striped tee and a simple leather bag. The Lake Blue Stripe Gemma Slub Jersey Top* has been a key item for me in the past few weeks, paired with bare legs and a black skirt or with jeans and flats for a cooler day. Unlike many other tees, it's a thick jersey material which holds the shape after a lot of wear and you are able to feel the quality of the top. I absolutely love the jewel embellishment at the front as it means I can easily skip a necklace that day and it comes ready accessorised for me. The bag is the French Navy Padstow Leather Bag*, which is a small square satchel style bag which is great for day time use. Going for a navy lea the bag rather than the typical black mixes it up a little and can easily make the outfit stand out more. For a small bag, it manages to fit in my large Mulberry purse, Sony A6000 camera and all of the toiletries I may need (such as the five lipsticks I carried around yesterday).

As they have just added more summer pieces, I'm already thinking of ordering the Navy Stripe Espadrilles for the warmer months! A little disclaimer to note that I haven't been sponsored for this post, I was asked if I wanted to try some of the clothes and as it's a brand I have grown up with, I was more than happy to do show it to you.

Spring Shopping

All hail the typical 'I went shopping and feel the need to parade my belongings' post. I haven't done a post like this in a while, mainly because I one haven't been shopping much and two, I'm quite lazy and want to shove the make up on my face as soon as I can. But in the run up to Stockholm, something struck me and all I was feeling was #feelingspendy! The feeling carried on throughout the trip and beyond that, so let me show you my purchases.

I, of course, made sure I stopped off at Sephora, even though it was a quick supermarket sweep around the store. I headed for the Formula X nail polishes after being told how good they are and I can confirm that they really are incredible. Sometimes nail polishes don't last that long on my nails but this polish stayed shiny for 5 days and only started to chip on the 6th day. I went for the shade 'Ignite', which is a deep red as there wasn't the largest range in the small store. Next stop was brushes, not that I need a new foundation brush, this one stood out. It was the Sephora Pro Flawless Airbrush #56, which so far has been amazing. I apply a small amount of foundation on the top of the brush before buffing it into my skin, which it leaves it with a flawless look to the skin. It's a small enough brush for the full face but also to use with concealer too, so it skips the step of having to use a second brush for concealer.

Although the Mui Mui Glitter sunglasses are calling my name, I went for the Le Specs Hermosa sunglasses. You can buy them around the world, however I did save a little by paying for them in Krones that weekend due to the exchange rate. They're a larger frame than my typical Ray Ban's which I wear far too often and also with a slight cat-eye which I love. I honestly love them so much and have been wearing them at any opportunity.

As for clothes in Stockholm, I picked up a few pieces from Weekday for the summer such as light flowy tops. Since then, I have also made a huge ASOS order and returned a few bits from the order. But with a coming Christening, I wanted to pick up a new dress which is summery but formal as I don't own many formal style dresses. & Other Stories were offering 20% off their dresses so I picked up this Layered Porcelain Dress. The colour is what swayed me, it's such a beautiful bright royal blue with the contrasting white pattern.

And that's my spending for this month, what has your favourite purchase been recently?

My Favourite Jewellery

I've never been a huge jewellery lover growing up. When it came to 'big' birthdays, my parents always asked if I wanted a piece of jewellery just like my sister but I always went for a new bag. But the pieces I do wear, I wear every day and they are staples in all my outfits.

Starting with the necklaces, I purchased the Alex Monroe Gold Bumblebee necklace last year as a birthday present to myself and like many of my other pieces, I wear it nearly every day. I like how the bee is slightly weighted so it hangs beautifully around the neck, as well as it going with almost all outfits. The other was a Christmas present, which is a simple chain with four small pearls in the middle from the brand Orelia in Topshop. I always admire the jewellery in Orelia as it's all so dainty and simple, which as you will see, is a running theme.

Next with my rings, the little entwined double band has a special place in my heart as I have worn it every single day for around 7 years now. It's nothing special, my friend bought it for me as I kept looking at the same one every weekend we were in town but it was the way she went out of her way to buy it for me. It's made out of sterling silver, which is the same for all my rings so that they all match. But that has sat on the same finger every single day, so if I ever forget to put it back on, I feel slightly bald as its left an indent in my finger.
Moving onto the newer additions, & Other Stories is my go to place for all jewellery at the moment. I can't walk into the shop and leave empty handed as they're jewellery is so well priced for the quality. The Thin Disk Ring is a newer purchase, along with the thicker Double Loop ring. Another is from Jewel Street by the designer Christina Oswin, the Small Rock ring.

Yet another two & Other Stories purchases are my gold chain bracelets. I first purchased the plain around 4 months ago and haven't taken it off since, so I felt as though it needed a companion. The Hoop Chain can be found in both gold & silver, so I went for gold to match the other chain. I really like the simplicity of the chains and how easy they are to layer with each other. I keep looking at many other bracelets from Monica Vinader, as well as her simple band rings.

On top of these, the only other jewellery I wear everyday is my Daniel Wellington Classic Bristol Lady watch in Rose Gold. The leather strap has worn so well as I wear it so often and it sits very comfortably around my wrist. In fact, I keep admiring the smaller watches such as the Classy Sheffield watch with a black leather strap. Also, my earrings which I never remove (mostly as I wouldn't be able to put them back in alone) which are simple small silver hoops in my lobes and then a few more rings and bars in various different locations on my ears.

What are your favourite jewellery pieces?

The Spring Shopping List

Spring is just round the corner and I've been taking a peek in the shops recently to see what pieces to pick up. I'm not one to a million items of clothing, I have a few outfits which I really like to wear and stick with that. I'm covered on the basics, I own far too many of those, they no longer fit in the dedicated drawer. Having booked Stockholm for when it's going to the prime Spring time and knowing how cool everyone looks in Sweden, I'm itching to pick up a few things for there.

I've always had a weakness for striped tops, I own well over 10 of them so this Boden Long Sleeved Top is going to be perfect for Spring to add colour to my wardrobe. Something to pair the stripes with are these dungaree dress, the black denim from Cheap Monday and the light denim is from Topshop. After spotting a few girls around London wearing them, it brings back memories of my child wardrobe and I want to spend the Spring wearing them both. Moving away from the dresses, I've had a soft spot for cigarette trousers for a while, including these Topshop Print Cigarette Trousers. Although I've been looking for a soft black pair for a while, these could easily dress up a chunky black jumper. To go with all the new clothes, there needs to be new shoes and I've been looking for flat shoes which aren't trainers. The Office Pointed Cut Out Shoes would be great paired with tights and the dresses, whereas the Boden Navy & Black Loafers can go with the cigarette trousers. Although I love my Raybans and will continue to wear them all year round, I've been wanting a pair of cat eye sunglasses for a while and these ASOS exclusives from Jeepers Peepers are perfect. Lastly, it's not a wish list without a piece of make up on there and as I still haven't found the perfect powder highlighter, I think that the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow is that.
