Sunday Musings V

So last Sunday I realised I hadn't written a post like this since August, which is crazy as it's now November. I suppose life has just got in the way for me! September was mostly spent out of London and then the whole of October was a lot of fun weekends with friends and hard working mid-week, before a week away in Canada. As much as I love travelling and going to different countries, knowing that I'm not leaving the UK for a while is getting me excited. I just really love England in the winter. But I guess life got in the way and before I know it, I'll be heading home for a few weeks over Christmas!

• // Can we talk about Sarah's cover of Hello by Adele for a second? It was uploaded last week and I am completely obsessed with it.
• // Lily Pebbles uploaded her Casual Autumn Lookbook this morning and I loved it. It's great to see a YouTuber upload a lookbook of clothes they would actually wear on a daily basis for once. I've been enjoying Lily's channel so much recently, but the editing in that particular video was brilliant.
• // Sophie over at Double Dipping has started a new series where she interviews various photographers she knows. First up is Kevin Wong, someone you all need to follow on Instagram!
• // Diana Von Furstenberg and Leandra Medine chat on the couch in a new episode of The Chatroom. It's a perfect Sunday evening viewing!
• // British Vogue has uploaded Alexa Chung's fashion series as a long 1-hour version on YouTube - perfect opportunity to catch up with it all as it's all very interesting.

For the rest of my Sunday, I'm going to pick myself out of bed and walk to Sweaty Betty where I want to buy a new yoga mat as I have realised mine has turned a little damp. Note to self - don't store a yoga mat next to the window which has huge amounts of condensation on. What are you doing with your Sunday?

I'm Feeling 22 // Happy Birthday To Me!

It's been a while since I last sat down and properly wrote something for my blog, so here it is, I'm back from Bali and today it's my birthday! Ever since Taylor Swift released '22' on the Red album, I have been looking forward to turning 22 so I can sing it all the time and for it to be relevant. I always look at my birthday as it being a new year, rather than when it actually is New Year, so it's a good time to reflect on the past year.

  1. Who knew that I would finally leave my last job and find something I enjoy working on everyday.
  2. Living in London really has it's perks for my career, I realised that this year.
  3. When everyone around me has graduated from university, landing a dream job with only A Levels made me feel extremely proud of myself.
  4. None of the above means that I have things figured out, so I still don't have the answer to the question, 'so what do you want to do as your main career?'.
  5. Travel has became one of my biggest passions; Bali proved that for me so I'm excited for up and coming trips.
  6. Just because friends leave to move to different countries doesn't mean that friendships die down, it means you have a super exciting place to visit for a holiday.
  7. London at night quickly became one of my favourite things about the city.
  8. But leaving the city to escape back to the countryside still doesn't get old.
  9. It's only in the past year when I have finally felt like an adult, as childish as I can be at times still.
  10. It's ok to be selfish at times, it's important to take time for yourself and don't let people stop you from doing that.
  11. It's also important to step away from social media and realise that a lot of what I see isn't real, so to stop letting it get me down at times.
  12. Reaching out to someone close to you for help is a huge step, but also very important.
  13. And accepting that things's aren't ok is another huge step, as is moving on from it all.
  14. It's ok to be slightly jealous of all the people around you who are getting engaged/married, but continue to enjoy my 20s being single for now.
  15. It's ok to listen to all your favourite 90s tune (ahem Steps & Destinys Child) on Spotify but to hide it in private sessions.
  16. It's also completely acceptable to spend almost every night binge watching TV shows on Netflix.
  17. I need to stop pining for my own flat in London, but to continue to pin things in Pinterest for the future flat.
  18. Life can get in the way of blogging at times, but this time of the year also marks my blogs third birthday.
  19. I wouldn't be in the position now without my blog, as it can also turn into a great portfolio, so I am thankful for everything this also brings.
  20. Just as I said in last years post, believing in yourself can go a long way in the world so always continue to do that.
  21. I just need to now learn how to properly look after a plant before I'm allowed to get my own dog.
  22. But that doesn't stop me from taking photographs of every puppy I see out and about in London.

My break from the blog/life has inspired me more than ever to blog & write, so starting from tomorrow there will be a mass amount of posts all about my trip to Bali.

All my love, I wouldn't feel this happy right now without all your support. Luce x

Autumn // Inspiration

Autumn is by far my favourite season, as you're still left with a slight tan from the summer but you can layer up clothing and start to enjoy a hot water bottle while it's grim outside. Autumn also officially starts every year on the 22nd of September which is also my birthday!

Some things I'm looking forward to this autumn...

• // My birthday, obviously, as I'm turning 22 and I can finally sing 22 by Taylor Swift constantly.
• // Travel! I have one trip planned already with a few weekends away in the pipe line.
• // London in Autumn is one of my favourite times as the parks are turning into beautiful colours and it's also my favourite weather to run outside in.
• // Seasonal berries is something always to look forward to and although blackberries are already blossoming, I will always head out to pick a batch of berries to make into a compote or jam. Sloe berries are also in season if you're keen to make your own sloe gin, my parents did this one year and it was delicious!
• // Knitwear and coats, finally. I'm looking to invest in a new Barbour this winter, especially as I've had mine for around 4 years now and it's still in great condition, but it doesn't keep me warm. On top of that, I've already been browsing the fisherman sweaters on ASOS.

What are you excited about for autumn?

Sunday Musings IV

This week was never ending for me, but when it came to Saturday, it felt like it was in the middle of the week still. It was mostly spent working from bed, napping, going to the doctors and suffering from cabin fever come Thursday. I haven't been ill in a long time and I was determined to not let it affect me week, but alas it did but now I'm feeling a whole lot better.

With cabin fever hitting me on Thursday, I took myself for a long walk, explored my area a little more and made it back in time to see the stormy skies as it was about to pour down. Thankfully on Saturday it felt like summer again so I had a walk to Alexandra Palace to see the street food festival, have a little sunbathe before treating myself to the biggest ice cream ever on the way back home.

• // An interesting article on Into The Fold Mag, Attack of the Instagram Vegan. Coming directly from a vegan, she discusses how Instagram vegans are the movement itself and us all.
• // Have you seen this video of Ruthie Lindsey talking about her story? If you haven't, you should as she's very inspiring and proves that beauty can come out of brokenness.
• // One of my favourite bloggers, Emma, launched a new site, Kuidore, concentrating on travelling and food. If you're ever in need of being inspired to travel, look at her new site as she has documented her recent travels with some great places to visit.
• // I've had a few compliments on my current phone case, which is a cute mint green and white striped case with pink flamingos on it. It's a custom phone case from Caseapp and if you pop 'LUCECASE' into the checkout, you will receive 20% discount on all orders too! I always pick up my phone cases from there due to the wide range of cases there is.

I'd like to say a huge thank you for all the kind words left on my last post, It's Ok To Be Alone. It wasn't necessarily a hard one to write and post, but I was unsure on how people would react to it and it went down better than expected, so thank you.
