An Autumn Wishlist

Autumn is my favourite time of the year, there's no denying that. Although I complain about the cold, I am truly enjoying wearing layers, jumpers, coats and boots! With the new season comes a new urge to buy everything new (I already have purchased enough jumpers to last me the cold month) and I am all about enabling myself.

Every year when the weather turns colder, I always feel the need to wear a little more colour in my makeup such as more brown in my eyeshadow and a little deeper in the lip colour. I am currently obsessing over the new Jouer Essential Matte Shimmer Eyeshadow palette and RMS Swift Shadows. The Jouer palette has all the shades I'll ever need for the Autumn and I am obsessed with every RMS product so I know I will love their powder shadows even more. My go to eyeshadow at the moment is any of the By Terry Ombre Blackstar sticks and this Christmas gift has my name written all over it! For the lips, I think it's about time I pick up the Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor Lipstick, which is a vibrant blue shade which transfers into the perfect berry for your lips. The tinted By Terry Baume De Rose and Tata Harper Be Adored Lip Treatment are also calling my name for the perfect lip stains, as I'm not into the opaque lipsticks at the moment. Without forgetting about the skin, I'm reaching for masks a lot more recently and the new Tata Harper mask, Honey Blossom Mask, has caught my eye as there's no denying how much I love all their products. For on the go, I'm reaching for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light to counteract any redness with this Morphe brush!

I don't wear too much jewellery or accessories on a daily basis, maybe a ring or two and a watch at the most (with the exception of earrings), but I'm looking out for a few things. I've been looking out for a new watch, particularly a gold one, which I can wear every day and I love this one from Cluse, the Minuit Mesh Gold watch! I've had my eye on the Gold Mini Fang necklace from Missoma for so long now, it's such a beaut and more recently, I have been loving the Gold Claw Studs! I wear my current pair of Bailey Nelson glasses every single day at work and because of that, I'm sick of wearing the same pair every day so I keep looking for a new pair. I love the look of the Parker glasses, a little bigger and squarer than my current pair of glasses. If you're in the market for new glasses, optical or sun, I highly recommend Bailey Nelson as they have so much choice for a low price. As much as I love using a small bag, during the week it's not practical in the slightest and I'm currently eyeing up both the Beauford Medium Grab Bag and the Addison Medium Zip-top Grab Bag from Radley

I love coats in the winter, there's no denying that and I have my eye on this Leopard Faux Fur Collar Coat from Topshop. Despite it having a faux fur collar, I am planning on wearing that coat with a soft pink scarf because I'm lusting after everything pink at the moment. To fake the look of a shirt under a jumper, I love this little number from Monsoon for the warmer days. To cover all thick jumper needs, Barbour is always a go to for me and I'm currently lusting after this Barbour Tynemouth Crew Neck jumper. My favourite trainer brand at the moment is Superga and I have worn two pairs so much that they're ruined inside now, so I'm looking to purchase the Superga 2750 Cobinu Navy which has a fluffy inside for the winter! And because I'm not willing to pay the price of the Chloe boots, I am happy with the Office copies which are hopefully just as good quality.

Goodroots London Festival

At the weekend, I headed over to the Goodroots Festival in Dalston, London to meet with Rocio and to see all the delicious food. It was a unique event dedicated to health & wellness.

A few months ago, Rocio messaged me telling me that she was going to be in London in June for Goodroots Festival. I was naturally very excited that Rocio was coming to London as we hadn't seen each other in a long time, but I completely forgot to grab a ticket so Rocio saved the day with a spare ticket. If you don't follow Rocio, you should follow her blog Let It Be Cosy and also sign up to her newsletter! After meeting over social media a while ago, Rocio is such an inspiring person working as a food-photographer in her home country, Mallorca.

Goodroots Festival is a place for everyone who loves health, food & wellness to come together with brilliant speakers such as Deliciously EllaNiomi Smart, Jasmine and Melissa Hemsley. Situated in a warehouse in East London (I would highly recommend that they expand the space next year as it was rather small for the amount of people there), there was a space outdoors for all the foodstalls including Mae Deli, Co-Yo, Livia's Kitchen and many more. Indoors there were even more food stalls such as 26 Grains (which the above food was from - Indonesians crispy chicken, brown rice, chilli, ginger and coriander - delicious!) and Qnola. On top of all of that there was a hub where there was a range of speakers throughout the day and a room to purchase many amazing cookbooks including ones from the featured speakers.

Although this year was the first for Goodroots, I can see how much of a success it was and I'm positive that it will be on again next June. The event was ticketed for general admission & you also had to purchase tickets for the main speakers, which did sell out super quickly. The fact that it did sell out so quickly showed how many like-minded people there in London and how open people were to learning new things from everyone there. It certainly was an inspiring event which I will be attending again next year!

Summer Vision Board

Summer is fast approaching us and although I may be sat inside right now sniffling from a cold, I am thoroughly enjoying the warmer weather. When I think of last summer, I honestly can't remember much of what I did. There's a particular day which stands out in my head which was a beautifully sunny day spent at Kenwood House with my best friend, but nothing else can be remembered. Of course, Bali still comes into my head at least once a week as a reminder of the best holiday ever, but I'm talking mainly about summer in London. Although a beach holiday isn't on the cards this summer, it's all going to be worth it for a trip to New York later this year and I'm still going to be visiting friends in Berlin for a week or so in July. Appearance-wise, I'm so excited to touch up my blonde highlights in the next few weeks at a super exciting salon which I can't wait to share with you!

I have a lot of ideas for this space for over the next few months, but I would still like to know your ideas. Is there anything you'd like me to write about on here? What are your summer plans? Inspire me!

Getting Moving Again

You might have remembered a while ago, I wrote a lazy girls guide to working out when I was starting to work out on a regular basis. I will openly admit that I have not kept up with a regular schedule, however, I do still go a few week times a week. Now I am all about making sure that exercise is part of my routine and different ways that I can keep it in there.

  1. What's my end goal? If you asked me this time last year, I would have been able to tell you the exact amount of pounds I wanted to lose. Now I no longer think like that (not all the time anyway) as I know it's unhealthy for my mental state. Although yes I would like to budge a few pounds, I want to get fit and generally feel good about myself. Yes, it is the most typical thing to say, but knowing that I do see a difference and feel different after a few weeks in the gym, that keeps me going.
  2. Fit the gym around my schedule! I'm lucky that during the week, I don't work a typical 9-5, so I do have time to go to the gym when it's a little quieter. Although I start later than most, I will never be something who exercises early in the morning, as I'm simply not a morning person. But if I know I'm washing my hair that evening, I will most likely choose to do a spin class (am I the only one who comes out uber sweaty?) or go for a long swim! If I have time during the day, I'll book a class such as pilates at lunchtime or I will go straight to the gym when I get home before the post-work rush.
  3. Look good, feel good! To me, I have to feel comfortable in what I'm wearing to the gym, which means I end up buying a lot of activewear. I can make the excuse that I wear yoga pants nearly every day anyway, but I just like to buy it to feel good! Nike and Lululemon are commonly known to be two of the best brands to go to for activewear, which I certainly agree with (Lululemon sports bras are the bomb!). Though not every budget can stretch to those, including to myself, so when I found out that the GapFit range was amazing, I was super happy as it's certainly a fraction of the price of many other brands. In fact, I've only really purchased items from the GapFit range in the past six months or so. Another place I look for activewear and swimwear is Beach Cafe! Not only do they stock Varley, a super cool activewear brand which has the most amazing leggings out there, but they also have loads of beachwear from swimsuits to coverups. It's also my go-to place to purchase Seafolly, an Australian designer! I've been wearing the Fast Lane Scuba Swimsuit from Seafolly these past few months, which pinches me in at the right places and stays put when I'm doing laps of the pool.
  4. Good mood food! I'm someone that if I tell myself I'm on a diet, I will 100% crave pizza that evening and will consequently order it that same evening. So like everyone says, it really is about balance and not getting yourself down for eating something which isn't a salad. Ensuring I have food in my flat at all times is a pain, but if I don't have anything in, that's when I end up going to Waitrose on the way back from the gym and end up eating something not so good. 80% of the time when I'm cooking for myself, I will eat either vegetarian or I will eat fish. I usually order meat when I'm eating out, so I always tend to eat less meat during the week or none at all. But all of this makes me happy. I sometimes even crave a salad - who am I?!

As I publish this, I'm off to a boxing class which I have started to thoroughly enjoy! Until next time, what is your favourite way of staying motivated at the gym?
