Saving An Unexpected Breakout

A few weeks ago, my skin became really congested and I had a few break outs around my temples. This rarely happens to me so I rallied my best anti-blemish products to get rid of it as soon as possible. Before attempting to fight it, I had to figure out why I broke out and my friend mentioned that it could either be down to lifestyle changes or a new make up product. No major changes have happened and if anything, I've changed my diet for the better. However I had been using a new bronzer, NARS Laguna Bronzer and I put it down to that. I stopped using the product when I realised it had been that and the lumps and bumps went down straight away. I loved the bronzer, which made me sad as I can't use it now. I haven't heard about the product breaking people out too much, but it's worth keeping in mind.

I kept most of my routine simple, but I stepped up the masks and acids in products. I have re-introduced Pixi Glow Tonic to my routine, which I really love. It helps with the texture of my skin, smoothing out any rough skin I have from the winter months. I use it every evening in my routine before using a hydrating toner. Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque is also very useful for my skin as it doesn't dry it out completely, whereas other clay masks tend to do that. A very gentle deep cleansing, which is designed for frequent usage, to remove impurities and to refresh the skin. Another option which I always keep on hand is Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask* which is a natural deep cleansing mask, without the clay. Containing avocado oil and vanilla pod, it both soothes dehydration and deep cleanses.

For hydrating, I've stuck with two main products with the addition of a few oils. Both morning and evening, I have been using Kiehl's Skin Rescue as my moisturiser. I have spoken about this a few times, I'm scraping the bottom of it now and will definitely be picking up another one. Perfect for all skin types, even those with dry skin like myself but also oily combination skin as it's still very lightweight. Pai have brought out a new range of serums targeted for different skin issues, so I have been using the calming redness serum, Sea Aster & Wild Oat Instant Calm Redness Serum*. I have always liked Pai's skincare products, I like how you can look at the ingredient list and understand what every single ingredient is. But as for the serum, it's great to taken down any redness from flushing or rosacea which can be an issue for many people. Perfect for someone who has hyper sensitive skin, which can happen around the area when you break out.
