So until a few months ago, I was all about the sheer coverage as all the full coverage foundations I had used were quite drying. That was until these new products came along and they have changed everything I thought of them. Most of my favourite bases come from Bobbi Brown & Clinique so it makes a lot of sense that I really like these products.
Some of you may know about the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick, but recently they reformulated the stick so it's not as thick heavy coverage as it used to be. I do own a smaller version of the old formulation called the Face Touch Up Stick, which is brilliant for concealer but not so good as a foundation. So the new formulation is available in all the shades and I'm currently using the shade Sand*. It's a creamy weightless texture which blends perfectly into the skin, without clinging to any dry patches. It contains shea butter and olive extracts so it helps to keep the skin moisturised throughout the day, as well as oil-controling minerals to minimise the shine. I have found that warming it up onto my finger tips, then applying it with my fingers before blending it with a brush. On some days I have applied it straight to the skin from the stick and it blended out perfectly. If you're looking for a good all in one foundation, it's worth looking at this as it doubles up perfect as a concealer as it's build-able.
A classic foundation which has been out for a while is Clinique Supermoisture Foundation, which I have in the shade Ivory*. It's a sheer-moderate coverage foundation, however I have been using it to build up around my cheeks. Created for very dry skin, it's another reason why I love this foundation as it blends seamlessly into my dry patches. The finish is a semi-matte finish, a finish I really look for during the summer so it looks great with a highlighter and a little contouring. Unlike a lot of foundations which are really good for dry skin but disappear throughout the day, this stays put for at least 10 hours without any powder.
Another Clinique foundation is the new Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector, which I have the shade Light*. It scared me at first, knowing that a thick cream compact can sometimes be a little drying, but I know how much I love the original CC cream they brought out. As you can see from the image, I have used this a lot and have even stabbed my brush in it by accident. I found that the best way to apply this is by dapping a buffing brush straight onto the product and then onto the face. It's a perfect match for my skin when I haven't fake tanned so when I first received it, I was using it every day. Similar to the foundation stick, it's a light to medium coverage foundation which is definitely build-able to the coverage you prefer.
All foundations are perfect for dry skin, as that is what I have, but out of them all, the foundation stick in particular is great for all skin types.
Which would you prefer?
