It's not often I talk about primers on here and that's because I rarely ever use them. My skin usually stays put throughout the day but lately my foundation has been disappearing on the dehydrated parts of my skin. I went for a hunt through my stash and worked out which primers were my favourite.
Considering this is oil free, I really like the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. I apply a small amount onto my forehead and cheeks before applying my foundation. It's a very thin consistency which sinks in straight away before leaving you with silky smooth skin. If this had coverage, I would use this all the time just because of how it leaves my skin. I've also got a mini one of the radiance primer but it's almost too radiant as I'm usually left looking sparkly. I quite like the look of the hydrating primer too, which seems more suited to my skin.
My favourite of the three, Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, just happens to be the most expensive one. This little miniature came with the Ambient Lighting Palette and I have savoured every little last drop. It's a very silky luxurious primer which reduces redness, uneven skin texture and absorbs excess oil. I've been applying this one on my nose and onto my cheeks. I suffer from redness on my cheeks and this really does help, even more than redness reducing primers. I only apply a tiny amount onto my nose but I do this just to keep the oil controlled as I don't apply much foundation on there. £52 for 30ml of a primer, I don't think so, so I will keep saving this one for special times.
Benefit Porefessional is a favourite across the country and the first time I ever used it, I hated it and the silicone feeling. About a year passed and I came across a new tube so I tried it out again, now I like it without using too much. A little goes a long way with this primer I find, so don't be heavy handed. I don't really use this for pores as mine don't bother me but this will keep your foundation stay put for at least 10 hours. I have tested this on many days and each day I have came home and it has been perfect.
