The daffodils are out, trees are finally starting to look green, the sun is making appearances every now and then, meaning that the temperature is warming up and that spring is finally on it's way! It's the time when I'm starting to switch up my makeup and lately I have been reaching for my luxurious choices.
For base, a classic from YSL, the Touche Elcat Foundation in B30* has been warming my skin tone up with a light to medium coverage. A fantastic foundation if you're looking for a luminous finish. On the days I want a matte finish, the new NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation* is a medium to heavy coverage foundation. With a very watery consistency, you have to work with it fast but once it's set, it's there for the day and it will prove it's name, it's weightless. Clarins Instant Concealer in 01 is the perfect cover-up for all blemishes and also great for under eyes. It blends seamlessly into any foundation I'm using, a product I would always recommend. Moving onto contour and for an everyday look, I have been using Aerin Golden Bronzer* in a 3 motion across my face to add a little warmth. If I'm willing to commit to the contouring look for an evening, I always reach for Tom Ford Contour Kit* for the cream contour before layering the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick over the top for extra highlight. Coming straight from their Spring collection, I have been applying a sheer all over highlight which is the YSL Lumiere de Jour*. It's a lovely pink shade with a very fine slight shimmer running through it, however it doesn't appear pink on the skin at all.
Moving onto the eyes and I'm sticking with the Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brunette, which actually needs repurchasing. A very fine pencil so that the hairs can be simply drawn on to look very natural. I have a love hate relationship with eyeliner, it really has to be a great product for me to use it. During the day, if I'm not feeling eye shadow, a smudge of kohl eyeliner is great to add more definition. Aerin Gel Liner in Essential Black* paired with a small smudging brush along the top and bottom lash lines is one of my favourites. The only time I will attempt liquid eyeliner is on an evening and I always go straight to the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen in Black*. With two nibs either end of the pen, one bigger than the other, it can create the thinnest line to as thick as you please, as well as being extremely black. As for eye shadow, I return to my Urban Decay Naked palettes time and time again, however the Bobbi Brown Gold & Chocolate Eye Palette* holds a special place in my heart. With the deep chocolate and gold shadows, it's an easy day to night palette with a small brush included in it too. Although this was limited edition, Bobbi Brown always launch brilliant eye palettes every season.
Lips are either the main feature of a look or something to compliment the eyes with. I have a lipstick or gloss for every occasion and I still continue to buy many more. Aerin Lip Gloss in Weekend* is a perfect nude lip gloss which isn't sticky in the slightest and can be paired with either bare lips or a nude lipstick, such as Tom Ford Lipstick in Spanish Pink. There's no denying how beautiful Tom Ford lipsticks are, however another option could be the Estee Lauder Envy Lipsticks which are ridiculously creamy and leave a lovely satin finish. The shade Emotional* is a favourite of mine, as it's a deep red shade which filled the void of the 'perfect dark red shade' I had in my collection.
Whether I have enabled many more purchases or increased the size of your wishlist, I hope you enjoyed the post. Would you like to see a drugstore version?
