July has been filled with sun-drenched skin, heatwaves, busy days and rekindling my love for reading. With that, there has been a few things I have been loving this month from the beauty world.
Not one for sweet scents, I was pleasantly surprised that I liked the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Lotion. A light enough lotion for daily use post-shower, but also hydrating enough to add the extra moisture into my sometimes sunburnt skin. With a super sweet lime fragrance, it's not for everyone but the scent does disappear after a while. It also contains AHA fruit complexes which helps smooth the skin while hydrating it at the same time.
While on the topic of fragrance, my go to perfume has been to the Maison Martin Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning fragrance. I've had my eye on this for a long time now and I always used to mist myself in it whenever I spotted it in Selfridges, so it has been a delight to finally wear this every day. I don't always smell it on myself, but I prefer it that way as it's not overpowering, yet it's something other people notice as I've had a few compliments since wearing it. I love all the Replica fragrances, which are reproductions of familiar scents and moments of varying locations and periods. This one, in particular, is Florence 2003, on a lazy Sunday morning which has a scent of soft skin and bed linen. That sounds like my perfect moment, mostly as Florence is my favourite city and I'm all for a lazy Sunday morning.
Another scent is a pillow mist which has been helping me drift off to sleep that little easier. The NEOM Perfect Night's Sleep Pillow Mist Tranquillity is a new addition to the Tranquillity line. Being a more concentrated version of their room spray, another product I love, it's a familiar scent for me. I've been a fan of This Works Pillow Mist for a while however I find that the scent contains a little too much lavender for me. I find that the mixture of sweet basil and jasmine with the English lavender is just right for my senses. Before bed, I spritz a little over my pillows and the tops of my sheets to add the scent. On the first go I went a little overboard and smelt like a fragrance shop, so a little really does go a long way with this.
Something I have been reading before bed, well in fact I finished this in two days as I became so obsessed is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. As John Green describes it, which is a perfect description of it, "Reminded me not just what it's like to be young and in love with a girl, but also what it's like to be young and in love with a book". I'm a sucker for a romance novel, I'm too much of a romantic to pass on them and this book had me smiling throughout it. It'll bring back memories of how you felt with your first loves, but will also get you hooked on the characters and how different they are. I hadn't heard of the book or author until it popped up onto my Amazon page, so now I'm going to look into her other books.
For skin care, a new launch by Origins has caught my eye and the product is the Original Skin Retexturizing Mask. I've been a huge fan of the serum in the same range and now they have launched a mask to match the beautiful pink packaging (possibly one of my favourite parts of the mask). Made with rose clay, willow herb and exfoliating beads, it leaves the skin deep cleaned yet without dehydrating my skin further. For me, I have a tendency to feel a little sensitive during and after using clay masks but I didn't find it at all with this and was able to leave it to dry completely, which doesn't usually also happen.
Special mention to the nail polish which has dragged me out of my 'no nail polish' phase - Nails Inc Gel Effect in Chiltern Street. A light baby pink which requires no top coat and lasts for a good week with no chipping. Not my usual choice of shade, but if it emphasizes the small tan I still have after the heatwave, I will go with that. It's my first Nails Inc Gel polish and I think I may be a convert and also purchase that nude which everyone raves out.
What has been your favourite throughout this month?
