I'm in the market for a new cleanser - help a sister out and recommend me your favourite cleanser.
I realised the other day, that I still haven't found my perfect cleanser and I need that space in my routine filling. Don't get me wrong, there are multiple cleansers which I absolutely love, but they're all missing something. I used to have super dry/dehydrated skin, but now it's more on the combination/dehydrated side and in the super cold weather, it goes a little dry. The majority of my cleansers are geared towards dry skin, so I'm in the market for a new one.
Ultimately, I'd like to be able to use my cleanser on both dry and wet skin (always on dry skin in the evening) and for it to remove light makeup as well as cleanse my skin. As for the texture, a gel which doesn't foam (huge no-no for me), almost an oil texture but it isn't an oil or balm. Also, if it can come in a pump bottle, it will gain extra points for me. Does that exist? I have no idea.
In the past, I have had a love affair with Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, a thick balm which removes every scrap of makeup on my face and which I will continue to use (I've gone through approx 3 tubs of this stuff). More recently, I've been using Ole Henriksen Melting Cleanser, a jelly cleanser which turns into an oil once massaged before emulsifying when water has been added. Use too much of this cleanser and your face is overrun with oil, but the right amount is perfect for a facial massage. For a plain cleansing oil, I've been dabbling with Elizabeth Arden Cleansing Oil, a straight to the point cleansing oil which I like but haven't been able to find anything which wows me. The previous three cleansers are used mostly as a lazy cleanser (aka removes both makeup and dirt in one), but I have others which are solely used as a skin cleanser. Skyn Iceland Cream Cleanser is a thick cleanser which is the bomb for those with super dry skin, but it's almost felt a little too heavy for my skin. At the moment in my bathroom cabinet, I have Caudalie Cleansing Oil, MV Organics Cream Cleanser, Bio-Essence Micellar Water Jelly and Cetaphil Sensitive Skin Cleanser. The Caudalie cleanser is new to me and so far I'm impressed. It melts makeup instantly without having to work it into the skin too much, it smells like Disaronno (all time favourite drink) so that's an added bonus and it has a lovely silky serum/oily texture. The others have been firm favourites for a while, including the Bio-Essence offering which won't be going anywhere and the Cetaphil cleanser is something I have been falling back on for, for years.
So the question is, what is your favourite cleanser and why?
