I love lipsticks, but I hate the upkeep of wearing it all day and will forget to reapply it 90% of the time. I don't think I have worn a statement lip for over a year now, so I have become friendly with all the low-key lipsticks out there.
On a day to day basis, I choose colours which simply compliment my skin tone but are also as close to my natural lip colour as I can get it. I'm drawn to a powdery rose pink, a light coral and a simple peachy nude, colours which when worn down don't look horrendous.
For a straight up tinted lip balm, I head straight to Burts Bees for their huge selection of balms. My go-to has been in the shade Hibiscus which is a dark rose shade, although it's quite sheer & more of a stain. The best part, it's incredibly inexpensive so it's not the worst thing to own more than one of those. The two actual lipsticks which have been tickling my fancy recently have been by Guerlain and Bobbi Brown. Although I've been a fan of Bobbi Brown lipsticks for years now, Guerlain is a new one to me. Bobbi Brown have recently released their Nourishing Lip Colour range and I have been obsessed with the shade Ballerina Pink. Naturally, I love the name of the lipstick but the shade is a beautiful soft peachy pink. The formula is incredibly hydrating and leaves the lips with a swipe of colour and shine. I don't need to use a mirror to apply the lipstick and I already have my eye on the shade Rosebud. I've been wearing Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lipstick in Beige Lingerie as a nude lipstick with a hint of rose. A new product for Guerlain, it's a light-weight texture lipstick which applies so smooth onto the lips and leaves a high pigmented shade. Sticking with the natural shades, Beige Lingerie is a beautiful nude pink which is a few shades lighter than my lips.
For the product in between a lipstick and lip balm, which isn't a straight up tinted lip balm, I would highly recommend the RMS Lip Shine colours. It's an uber glossy lip balm which provides both shine and colour with all the good skincare too. I find with these, I can apply them on the go and not worry about using a mirror for application as it's a simple wash of colour. Honest has been a firm staple in my everyday makeup bag for the past few months, which is a lovely light rosebud shade.
Although many brands are releasing their own version, Dior was the first to introduce me to the Lip Glow, a lipstick/balm which enhances the lips and brings out the natural lip colour. I have gone through a whole Dior Addict Lip Glow in 001 Original and I'm already onto my second, I love it that much and that rarely happens! It uses chemistry to react with each lips to a natural flush of custom colour that suits their skin tone. The 001 Original shade leans towards the pinkier tones, whereas they also have 005 Lilac shade which is simply a deeper pink/mauve and not lilac in the slightest. Somehow, I have gone so long without purchasing the Coral shade, although I have a feeling that will change soon. Note - I came across the Dior Addict Lip Glow Pomade in 001 Universal Pink whilst googling where to buy the Dior lip products and promptly added it to my shopping list along with the coral shade!
I've been a solid fan of the Dior Lip Glow lipsticks for a long time now and the only one which came along and rocked the boat for a while was the Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint in Pink. Unfortunately, this little beauty was limited edition, I'm hoping that they re-introduce it along with other shades as it's such a small little compact hydrating balm!
