Davines at Blue Tit London

There's no denying that I'm a huge fan of Davines so when it came to that time of the year when my colour needs retouching and my hair needs a trim, I hunted out a salon which solely uses Davines & Olaplex products. That salon is Blue Tit, with a few branches dotted in the up and coming areas in London and after visiting them in Clapton, I've certainly found my perfect salon.

In the past few months, I've been 'attempting' to grow my hair but as soon as it hits my shoulders, I have an urge to chop it off. That happened at my hair appointment and I'm back to my ideal hair length, which is around half an inch lower than my jawline. As for my colour, the less I can get it done, the better for me but this time, I went a little blonder and I absolutely love it. At Blue Tit in Clapton (121 Lower Clapton Rd), I first had my hair cut by Chris (find his Instagram here) and then the wonderful Harriet (find her Instagram here) made my blonde dreams come true. After always having my hair cut after having my hair dyed, it made so much sense to cut the hair before as it means the majority of the balayage is cut away afterwards. Chris, who is the manager at the Blue Tit Clapton and also teaches at the Davines courses, cut around an inch and a half off my hair after I showed him a picture of what my perfect hair length is.

When it came to the colour, that's when I knew that this salon was for me. Usually, I always take my time to make sure the colourist knows what I want, but with Harriet, who is also the head of colour at Blue Tit, she knew from the start. After showing a few photos and explaining that I wanted it to be brighter, multi-tonal but also super natural with no colour near my roots. Harriet quickly got to work using the Davines flamboyage technique using plastic strips to apply the colour (read this article to learn the difference between flamboyage and balayage). In short, I was able to achieve a higher impact look with flamboyage than I usually have whenever I have balayage done. I, of course, had the Olalplex treatment added to the bleach/toner to ensure my hair was the best quality it could be after the bleaching. It was only able to see the full results of Olaplex after having it combined with bleach and you can read more about Olaplex in this post here. After the bleach was washed off, a toner was applied before Olaplex 2 was applied for ten minutes or so to help repair the hair even more. To end, Harriet did the usual blow dry and also showed me how to perfect the 'S wave', which helps create a little texture in the hair without if being overly wavy.

As for the salon itself, it's the most Pinterest-worthy salon ever and I know that all branches of the salon are the same. With plants everywhere around the store, a bar and an even bigger open space for hair appointments downstairs, it's certainly beautiful.
