The Beauty Box: Birchbox April '13

April brought my first ever Birchbox*, something I've umed and ahhed about for a while so when I was kindly gifted one by the She Said Beauty team, I was very happy. The theme for this months box is 'In Bloom', meaning that even if the weather hasn't shown itself yet, it's still time to embrace the brighter look. All products you find in this months box are 'gentle-but-effective every day heroes'.

First up is the Gerda Spillman Renaissance Age Serum, a serum for all ages which will keep your skin fresh and revived. I found that applying it on a morning underneath a thin layer of moisturiser, when combined with a matte foundation, added a dewy finish to the heavier coverage. Next is La Societe Parisienne De Savons Soap, or in my words, a fancy bar of soap. I will be truthful and say I haven't tried this yet because when I think of soap, I think of a Dove bar of soap which will dry my skin out. Until I finally try it, it will look nice in my bathroom just placed there as an ornament. Seeing that there was a Mirenesse lip stick in there made me happy as I have a plum shade from them. A sheer but buildable lip colour, a lovely deep rosy shade which I wore with a very simple fresh faced make up look (a look with no make up on). Weleda Skin Food, a product Victoria Beckham swears by? Well if it makes me have skin like her, then I'll give it a go. So far? Not so much. Natio Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser is another product I haven't tried yet, but it will be coming with me on my next trip away. There was a little mirror in there which was cute, perfect as I had just smashed my last handbag mirror on the tube.

Overall verdict? I am already eyeing up next months box...
