The Beauty Box: Birchbox October 2013

When it comes to beauty boxes, it can be quite overwhelming as there are so many out there on the market. I usually wait until I know what people are getting in the boxes, before I decide whether I want to order it or not. This month, Birchbox celebrated all the award-winning, celeb-favourite and all around 'buzzy' samples for the October Birchbox*.

Inside the box, alongside the samples, there's a few cards giving you tips and recommendations in relation to the included products. Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant is packed with crystals and lactic acid to help polish the skin and smooth away the dead skin cells, leaving brighter looking skin. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer is a universal primer which prolongs the wear of foundation and evens out the skin type. The primer doesn't have silicone in the ingredients, so some people may not like it due to it not completely hide pores. Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips is an ultra hydrating lanolin gel which recovers cracked skin and dry patches. Used originally for breast feeding mums, people soon realised it's the perfect base for a matte statement lip. Egyptian Magic is a multi-purpose healing skin cream which is made up of six all natural ingredients. All you need is a small amount to rub between your hands until it turns into an oil, before applying to the skin or the ends of hair for extra nourishment. UltraDEX is an award-winning toothpaste which kills bacteria, lifts those coffee & wine stains whilst whitening the teeth. A perfect size to use for an overnight stay or for a holiday. KMS California Hair Play Makeover Spray is a dry conditioner for the hair which absorbs oil or thickens and refreshes day-old hair. theBalm Cosmetics Stainiac is a two-in-one lip and cheek stain which gives a natural, understated flush. Perfect for on the go if you forget to apply blush or want to add a little colour to your lips.

Overall, I'm impressed with this box. Birchbox always seems to get it right, listening to the consumer about what they like in their boxes. I would have preferred if some of the samples were a little bigger as you don't get much use, but I can't be picky!
